Dear anxiety (you got the best of me)

A note from Katie:
First of all, I owe so much to Luke Noack, who sat on the floor with me at the Tamworth Country Music Festival one year and poured his heart out over his guitar.
He played me this song and it completely stopped me in my tracks. It moved me so much that it stayed with me for more than eight years.
I remember begging Luke to let me co-write it with him. We never actually got around to finishing it together, but I couldn't get it out of my head. I ended up teaching myself the chords and, years later, when it came time to choose songs for the album, I recorded the demo you'll hear in this chapter and sent it to my producer.
Once we'd decided it had to make the record, I knew I needed to call Luke.
Out of the blue, I video called him and played him my accoustic version. He couldn't believe I'd carried this song with me for all those years. He gave me his blessing to record it and I'm so grateful.
The funny thing is, neither of us can really remember who wrote what. I always say it was Luke's song, and he insists it was mine. Maybe that's what happens when a song grows over time.
What I do know is this, if a song can survive for eight years on memory alone, there's probably a reason.
It was always meant to find its way into the world.
This song means a lot to both of us, and I hope it finds a beautiful home with you too.

Here's an unfiltered look into the studio process. Jared Adlam is fantastic and really worked with me to give this song the emotional depth that it needed. The video is six minutes long but it's only a snipper of the work he put in to making this song what it is today. I hope you love the sneak peak into the studio as much as I loved rewatching it.
